Real Estate Agent Faces Drug Trafficking Charge

One of Lake Countys most successful real estate agents has been jailed under a half-million-dollar bond for trafficking in methamphetamine, the Lake County Sheriffs Office said.Robert Lord Morris, 48, of Eustis, also was charged with resisting arrest.

According to an arrest affidavit, Brokers Title of Leesburg received a package from Arizona via FedEx on Wednesday that was addressed to a client in Washington, D.C.

Whittier Woman Accused of Defrauding Seniors in Real Estate Scam

WHITTIER - A Whittier woman allegedly stole money from five seniors between 2006 and 2009 using her contacts and her knowledge of real estate.Investigators alleged Helen Hinojos, a 45-year-old loan processor, defrauded some of the seniors by getting a second loan on their homes without their knowledge. She also helped others refinance their houses then allegedly stole the money.

Sheriffs Detective Christopher Derry believes Hinojos gambled away most of the money. But in one of the 2006 cases, he said the cash didnt end up on casino tables.

Virginia Real Estate Agent Sentenced for Fraud

A Richmond, Va. real estate agent and investor has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison for a $2.4 million mortgage fraud scheme.Jodi D. Robinsons sentence was at the low end of the federal guideline range of 51 months to 63 months. She also was ordered Wednesday to pay about $1.1 million in restitution.

Robinson pleaded guilty to a single count of mail fraud in April. In her plea agreement, Robinson admitted obtaining 16 fraudulent real estate loans over a five-year period.
